Holyoke is the birthplace of volleyball, also known as “Paper City.” Holyoke sits in between the western bank of the Connecticut River and the Mount Tom Range. One of the first planned industrial cities in the US, Holyoke has a unique canal system where paper mills once where whirring. Now in the midst of a redevelopment renaissance these mills are being turned into lofts, manufacturing buildings and artist live/work space.
A diverse city of just under 40,000 people Holyoke boasts one of the largest Saint Patrick Day parades in the world along. Holyoke is home of the Valley Blue Sox who play in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Holyoke has a long tradition of great athletes and sports.
Various types of housing exist in Holyoke from the aforementioned lofts in the downtown to Victorian houses in neighborhoods like Elmwood. Holyoke is an up and coming place to call home.
