East Forest Park is mostly residential, consisting of many Cape Cod style homes. In comparison to some of the city’s grander houses, they may seem more moderate. That said, this area consistently sells well and is highly sought after. While damaged by the path of the 2011 tornado that touched down in Springfield, East Forest Park was quick to recover and the spirit of the neighborhood shined. The former Cathedral High School on Surrey Road has transformed into a state of the art regional high school and has been renamed Pope Francis High School. In addition, the city’s only Catholic grammar school, St. Michael’s Academy, calls East Forest Park home. Nathan Bill Park provides residents with a playground and basketball courts and soccer fields. The city is also in the works to build a new neighborhood library.
